Anand Subramanian,founder of Think Media is an Indian director, producer and entrepreneur. A post-graduate from the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and University of Southern California’s School of Cinema.
Anand began his film career in 1994 with his first film Ordinary Love selected under the Short Films category at Kolkata Film Festival – often called as the Intellectual Film Festival of Asia. Ordinary Love stood out due to its simplistic form and style.
In late 2004, Anand formed a production company – Think Media and began to build a profile as a director and producer on projects including films for large corporations,commercials and fiction television content. His TV story Vapasi debuted on Zee (which inspired Oscar nominated director Ashutosh Gowariker to produce and direct Swades) got a warm reception from critics. They applauded the way Anand crafted an intriguing and insightful tale of a young Indian’s return to his homeland to make a difference to society. Vapasi was a unique experiment with grass root realism and soon became a cult classic.
As an actor Anand has acted in several films.
Anand is also a patron of film education whereby he continually contributes greatly by conducting different kinds of workshops for young people.
He is Chief Mentor - Film and Broadcast at Amrita University, and Head of Film at the National School of Journalism, Bangalore.
He has made his mark with character-driven films, documentaries and TV stories that have been generally hailed as refreshingly original and devoid of cynicism. In development is Kannada feature film, DHAARE.
